Green Chemistry

Green chemistry is not considered a particular branch of chemistry. Instead, it is viewed as a philosophy of designing and performing chemical reactions and processes taking into account their environmental impact. It encompasses various disciplines of chemistry and chemical engineering with the common task of reducing the use of hazardous chemicals and minimizing the pollution from chemical reactions and their energy consumption.

Particular areas of research include organic and inorganic catalysis, use of environmentally benign solvents (such as water), development and utilization of clean reagents that produce no or little chemical waste.
